I've been using XP Home since it came out, with every addition as it came out. Having experienced Millennium, and toyed with Vista, the only OS upgrade I would do would be to XP Pro, but I am perfectly happy with XP Home
The Operating System I Have Trusted Since 2002.

When I first got my Emachines T1115 with only 128 megs of Ram I thought this computer had to have a good OS. When I first turned it on I was amazed and I love the setup and features that SP1 had. Then when SP2 came out, my PC became secure that time, then I had to upgrade the RAM from 128 MB to 192 MB. In 2005 I got an upgrade and still was using SP2 and had got 320 MB of RAM. Then in 2006 I got a new PC for X Mas and thank goodness it had XP Home Edition SP2. Then when I moved out SP3 came out and I had to upgrade my RAM as well from 512 MB to 2 GB of Ram. Now I just bought a netbook and surprisingly it had XP SP3. Last night the netbook died so I backed it up withy Linux till I get a recovery CD or new OS, I will be glad to see it again on my netbook! I am just going to have to be patient. I might never use Vista or Win 7 for a long time!
Better then win 95 98

I am posting in the proper spot since, the link provided brings me to SP2 instead of SP3...It works, but it needs to be activated.
Not long ago I purchased a refurbished PC that had WINDOWS XP HOME;the purchase was to dedicate the PC to Genealogy Hobby & Photography. Due to my age {70}, did not get to setting this system up for use-at the moment am stuck as the Product Key Label on the PC is not acceptable to enter. After reading the positive ratings about the SP3 version am contemplating making a purchase of same. My main computer is loaded with Vista and after 21 months, still prefer the WINDOWS XP i had used for so long...
* The above
values are for physical, not usable memory.
The amount of
memory that your system reports, is not always the amount of actual installed
memory. For example, if you have 4GB installed, 32 bit versions of Windows will
typically report 3.2GB due to a limitation of Windows itself. Also note
that different Windows programs report available and maximum memory differently,
which can be confusing. If you find that you need more memory, we suggest
expanding your system memory, since this is the most effective performance
increase, and the one that is easiest to perform.
